KINGSTON, R.I. - For the past six weeks, student-athletes at the University of Rhode Island have participated in the "Get 60" program, sponsored by RHODY Life Skills.

Get 60 is a six-week, nation-wide program that promotes at least 60 minutes of physical activity each week for elementary school students.  The program's primary goal is to decrease childhood obesity around the nation.

The URI student-athletes served as role models to fourth and fifth grade students at West Kingston Elementary School by leading the students in weekly activities. They also encouraged the students to stay active and showed them how fun, easy and enjoyable this can be.

URI student-athletes currently involved in this program are:

Christina DeLeon (sophomore, women's track & field)
Mallory Fossa (sophomore, rowing)
Dan Lucas (junior, men's soccer)
Amanda Thomas (freshman, women's soccer)
Ivy Zuidhof (senior, volleyball)
