Eric Cirella, a Rhode Island native, enters his second season with the Rams in 2007-08. Cirella was a four-year stand-out baseball player at Salve Regina, settings records for career hits (220) and highest batting average (.446). He was an All-Conference and Academic All-Conference member all four years. He was awarded the Brother Michael Reynolds Award in 2004 for outstanding accomplishment in academics and athletics and was SRU's Male Athlete of the Year in 2004-2005. Cirella was selected as an Academic All-American 3 times (2003-2005) and was named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American of the Year in 2005. He was selected for the All-New England First Team and was a Rawlings ABCA All-American in 2004 (SS) and 2005 (OF).

As the national leader in batting average (.504) and bases on balls (49) his senior year, Cirella originally signed a contract with the Rockford Riverhawks of the Frontier League while eventually landing with the New Haven County Cutters of the Can Am League in the summer of 2006.

Cirella graduated Magna cum Laude from Salve Regina University with a B.S. in Financial Management in May of 2005. He was a member of the Dean's List all eight semesters and graduated with an impressive 3.87 GPA. Cirella brings an incredible athletic background and an extensive knowledge of the game to the University of Rhode Island. He is currently a graduate student at URI in Communication Studies. This summer he will coach the Green Bay Bullfrogs in the Northwoods League.
