Greenwood Named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island sophomore Nick Greenwood (Southington, Conn.) was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week on Monday, May 5. The honor follows Greenwood's complete-game shutout victory over Saint Joseph's, Saturday afternoon. The Rhody southpaw struck out a career-high 13 batters - his third double-digit strikeout performance this season - and added a pickoff, a put-out and two assists while limiting the Hawks to just three singles in the 2-0 victory. The first Ram to throw a complete game this season, Greenwood fanned seven-consecutive batters from the second-fourth innings and pitched six 1-2-3 innings. He currently leads the conference with 82 K's and is third in the league with a 3.25 earned run average. The Rams (25-21-1, 12-8-1 Atlantic 10) return to Bill Beck Field on Friday afternoon, when they open up a three-game Atlantic 10 series against Massachusetts. The two teams will play at 3 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and Noon on Sunday.
