Recruiting Coordinator, QB/WR Coach

Alma Mater:
Penn '97

Mark Fabish begins his first season as quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at the University of Rhode Island. He will also handle all aspects of recruiting.

Fabish comes to `The Ocean State' after spending the last 10 years at Monmouth University, the last six as offensive coordinator. In 2007, the Hawks led the Northeast Conference (NEC) in passing offense (207.9 ypg) and placed three offensive players on the NEC First Team, led by quarterback Brett Burke, who threw for a conference-best 1,957 yards and 10 touchdowns while completing a school-record 64.7 pct. of his passes. Monmouth wide receiver Adam Sam Miguel (49 receptions, 546 yards, 4 TD) and tight end John Nalbone (22 receptions, 252 yards, 3 TD) also earned First Team honors.

In 2006, five members of the Monmouth offense earned All-Northeast Conference honors, led by quarterback Brian Boland, who finished his career as one of just three players in conference history to post 7,000 career passing yards. A First Team All-NEC selection, Boland rewrote all but one Monmouth passing record while guiding the team to three NEC titles in four years and a 36-8 record as a starter. Miguel, meanwhile, set Hawks' records for single-season receptions (73) and led the league in catches and receiving yards (872). As a team, Monmouth tallied over 353 yards and nearly 24 points per game, including an average of over 200 passing yards per game.

The 2005 Monmouth offense saw Boland established new school records for passing yards and touchdowns WR Miles Austin - currently a member of the Dallas Cowboys - became the third player in the history of the Northeast Conference to post 1,000 yards receiving in one season (20.5 yards per reception). This followed a 2004 campaign which saw four players earn All-Northeast Conference honors as the Hawks captured the second NEC title in school history and MU's first-ever I-AA Mid-Major National Championship.

Fabish spent two seasons as wide receivers coach prior to his appointment as offensive coordinator. During that time, he coached Anthony Galella, who was tabbed Division II Receiver of the Year by Don Hansen's Football Gazette and a first team All-American in 1998. He arrived at Monmouth following a tryout at the Atlanta Falcons mini-camp and a stint as special teams coordinator at Don Bosco Prep High School in Ramsey, N.J. in 1997.

Fabish enjoyed an illustrious playing career at Penn from 1993-96, helping the Quakers win two Ivy League titles while helping string together an NCAA-best 24 consecutive victories from 1993-95. He ended his career as the Quakers all-time leader in career punt return average and kickoff return yardage. Fabish was named to the All-Ivy League team following his senior season in 1996, and also received the Edger Church Memorial Award, which is voted on by Penn letterwinners and granted to the player who contributed most to the team's success. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in American Civilization in 1997.

A native of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J. and a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School, Fabish led the Crusaders to back-to-back undefeated state championship seasons in 1991 and 1992.
