TAMPA, Fla. -- Rhode Island fired off a total of 293, moving up to a tie for 14th place after the second round of play at the Ron Smith Invitational, held at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club (par 72 - 7,084 yards). URI sat in 17th place after the first round (304) and hasa combined score of 597, tying it with Arkansas State. Middle Tennessee St. leads the team competition, with a combined score of 567.

Leading the way in round two was Mark Stevens, who equalled his opening round score of 71 on day two. He currently is two-under (71-71 -- 142) and tied for 10th place overall. Brad Valois is tied for 53rd overall after a second-round 77. He is seven-over for the tournament (74-77 -- 151).

Bill Forcier and Patrick Pelletier each had solid second round showings, firing off rounds of 72 and 73, respectively. Forcier (80-72 -- 152) and Pelletier (79-73 -- 152) are both tied for 59th overall, at eight-over. Jacksonville State's Julian Colmenares sits atop the leaderboard, with a two-day total of 137 (71-66).

The third and final round of the tournament concludes on Sunday, March 2.
