AIKEN, S.C. -- The University of Rhode Island sits in a tie for ninth place overall at the Cleveland Golf/Palmetto Intercollegiate. The two-day, three-round tournament is being held at the Palmetto Golf Club (par 70, 6,565 yards). Founded in 1892, Palmetto is recognized as the fourth oldest golf course in the United States and holds the oldest membership certificate to the USGA still in existence.

URI has a two-round total of 609 (302-307). Tennessee-Chattanooga leads the event, with a two round total of 568 (289-279)

Leading the way for the Rams after two rounds of play is Patrick Pelletier. He shot an opening round 73, followed by a 76 for a two-round total of 149. Pelletier sits in a tie for 20th overall. Brad Valois and Bill Forcier are tied for 46th, with a combined total of 155. Valois shot a 77 in the first round, followed by a 78. Forcier fired a 76 in the first round of action, coming back to shoot 79 in the afternoon.

Mark Stevens and Jarryd Dillas are tied for 50th overall, with a two-round total of 156. Stevens shot a first round 76, following by an afternoon score of 80. Dillas opened up play with an 82, before firing a second round 74. Jurrian vander Vaart of Virginia Tech and Tennessee-Chattanooga's J.T. Clendenin sit atop the leaderboard with a two-round total of 141.

The final round of play will be contested tomorrow.
