ACHA #1 Rams look to continue pace towards Club Hockey Nationals
Jan. 6, 2005
The University of Rhode Island Rams Men's Club Hockey team enters the second semester ranked #1 (ACHA) in the country for the first time in team history. URI looks to improve upon its 22-1-1 overall record and 12-0 record in the ECHA. The Rams balanced attack is lead by freshman Chris Brennan and sophomore Matt Loftus who both have 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points. A total of six players have scored at least 20 points during the first semester to lead the hockey team to its #1 ranking. Last season's Rookie of the Year, Anthony Feyock, continues to be stellar between the pipes, posting a 12-1-1 record while registering 4 shutouts, a 92.76 save percentage, and 1.64 goals against average.
The road to Nationals does not get any easier as the team travels to #3 ranked and 6-time national champion, Penn State for two games in January. URI will play 8 games at home this semester against Rutgers, West Virginia, U.S Naval Academy and nationally ranked Washington & Jefferson University.
The Rams start the second semester against ECHA foe Rutgers University on January 7th and 8th at the Bradford Boss Ice Arena in Kingston. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. on both nights.
