Men's Swimming Sets Two School Records at A-10 Championships

2008 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Day One Results Get Acrobat Reader

The University of Rhode Island men's swimming & diving team set a pair varsity records on the first day of competition at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving meet at St. Bonaventure University in New York. The Rams finished day one in sixth place with 63 points.

The URI 800-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Gerard Donlevy (Lake Grove, N.Y.), senior Ryan Sheatsley (Allentown, Pa.), freshman Joseph Sagginairo (Bellport, N.Y.), and sophomore Matthew Zrada (Harleysville, Pa.) - which finished in seventh-place - set a varsity record with a time of 6:52.64, breaking the previous mark by two seconds. Donlevy also set a Rhode Island varsity record in the 200-yard as he swam the first leg of the 800-yard event in 1:41.19.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Donlevy, freshman Daniel Backler (Newburyport, Mass.), senior Jason Jacintho (Dartmouth, Mass.), and junior Derek Denard (Doylestown, Pa.) placed seventh with a time of 1:34.62.

Freshman Logan Pearsall (Port Allegheny, Pa.) placed sixth in the one-meter dive finals as he received a score of 473.80.
