ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The University of Rhode Island men's swimming & diving team completed its second day at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championships in seventh-place with 109 points.

After breaking the URI varsity record in the 200-yard freestyle on the first day of the event, sophomore Gerard Donlevy (Lake Grove, N.Y.) set a URI varsity record and placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:51.29. Senior Ryan Sheatsley (Allentown, Pa.) placed fifth in the event with a time of 1:53.99.

In the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Matthew Zrada (Harleysville, Pa.) placed 13th (4:41.78) while freshman Daniel Backler (Newburyport, Mass.) finished in 16th place (4:43.72). Later, freshman Matthew Burak (North Easton, Mass.) placed eighth in the 50-yard free with a time of 21.37 and junior teammate Derek Denard (Doylestown, Pa.) placed 16th, posting a time of 21.70.

The Rams closed the afternoon with a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle as Burak, Denard, Sheatsley, and senior Jason Jacintho (Dartmouth, Mass.) swam to a time of 1:25.25.
