Field Hockey Drops 3-0 Decision at Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA - Senior M.J. Britt (Swoyersville, Pa.) recorded a season-high 14 saves as the Rhode Island field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Saint Joseph's, Friday evening in Philadelphia, Pa. With the loss, the Rams drop to 7-5 overall (1-2 Atlantic 10) while the Hawks improve to 7-6 overall (2-1 Atlantic 10).

Saint Joseph's opened the scoring at the 21:43 mark when Marisa Pizzi sent a pass from Theresa Barbati past Britt for the 1-0 lead.

Barbati found Pizzi again at the start of the second half, as Pizzi scored her second goal of the game at 37:44. Krista Bordonga recorded the final tally for the Hawks, off a feed from Jennifer Schultz with just over five minutes remaining in the game.

For the game, Saint Joseph's outshot Rhode Island, 24-2, and held a 2-0 advantage in penalty corners.

The Rams return to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Temple for a noontime game against the Owls.
