URI vs. Brown Results

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island gymnastics team defeated Brown University 189.850-183.550 Wednesday night at Mackal Field House on the URI campus.

The Rams opened the event with a 47.525-46.975 win in the vault. Sophomore Ananda Fraser (Diego Martin, Trinidad) led the Rams with an average of 9.650, followed by junior Lauren Wasilewski (Barnegat Light, N.J.).

On the bars, senior Emily Rinaldo (Beverly, Mass.) led the Rams to a 48.225-45.625 win with a score of 9.775. Senior Erica Heaney (North Plainfield, N.J.) also turned in a solid performance, earning a score of 9.725.

Sophomore Danielle Lee (Windsor Locks, Conn.) registered a team-high score of 9.575 to propel the Rams to a 46.525-44.950 win on the beam. URI wrapped up the match with a 47.575-46.000, led by freshman Danielle Riportella (Great River, N.Y.), who scored a 9.775. She also finished first in the all-around event.

The Rams return to action on February 23 when they travel to Piscataway, N.J. for a meet hosted by Rutgers University.
