Coaching Experience:
Shaw joined the Rhode Island women's soccer program in 2005, after coaching women's soccer at the highest level. He was named A-10 Coach of the Year in 2005 after going on a school record 11 game unbeaten run. The team has been runner-up in the league both years Shaw is here and has an overall record 15-5-1. Shaw has made in to the A-10 semi-finals in 2005 and A-10 finals in 2006. The URI women's soccer team has been consistently ranked in the Region since his arrival and considered one of the up and coming programs in the Northeast and in the country. The 2007-08 academic year marks his third season at the helm of the URI program.

In 2001, Shaw was one of the founding coaches in the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) the professional women's soccer league that featured the top American and International stars. He spent the first two seasons with the league coaching the Carolina Courage and the New York Power - teams that featured US National Team Players Carla Overbeck, Danielle Fotopolous and Tiffeny Millbrett as well as National Team players from China, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Canada.

Prior to coaching in the WUSA, Shaw served as an assistant at Penn State where the team won two Big 10 Tournament Championships. The team also advanced to the NCAA Tournament Final 8 twice and made an appearance in the the College Cup (Final 4).

Shaw also has coached at Top 25 Program Wisconsin and perennial power Florida where he won the SEC Tournament Title in 2004 with the Gators. The Gators earned the #7 Seed in the 2004 NCAA Tournament.

Shaw began his coaching career as the Men's Assistant Coach at Division III Nazareth College and Ithaca College and has been on the Region I Olympic Development Staff since 1998.

Collegiate Career:
A first-team All-American in 1991 and two-timw team captain at Ithaca, Shaw was inducted into the Ithaca Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998. The 1991 ISAA Division III Goalkeeper of the Year, Shaw was named the Empire Athletic Association Athlete of the Year in 1991-92 and was a first-team all-conference selection in 1989, 1990 and 1991.

Shaw played professionally with several teams in Belgium in 1993-96. He began his professional playing career with the Division I Club Brugges in the spring of 1993 and ended with the Division II K.V. Kortijk in the spring of 1996. He returned to the United States and played for the Rochester Raging Rhinos and the Atlanta Ruckus in the A-League before finishing his playing career with the Buffalo Blizzard of the National Professional Soccer League.

Personal:
Shaw earned a bachelor's degree from Ithaca in 1992 in psychology/neuroscience.
