    Dearest Rhody Fans,

Let me open by stating my most sincere apologies in regard to the long period of time that has gone by since the last Keepers' Korner entry. It's not you, it's me.

The end of the season was quite busy indeed and the addition of school work and then finals did not help the cause in any way. Actually, if you want to know the truth, I was part of the writer's strike. However, I should not be wasting your time making excuses when I could be enlightening your very being with the always satisfying Rhode Island womens' soccer knowledge.

Sadly, I don't even remember the last bit of information I relayed on to you and I'm just a little too lazy to bring up the page and look, so I'm just going to give you a recap of the entire season - right here, right now. We beat some great teams such as Colorado College, Charlotte, and Syracuse. We also lost some very close and well-played matchups to teams like West Virginia, who went far in the NCAA tournament, as well as Saint Louis, an always challenging A-10 rival. Unfortunately, and probably most importantly, we lost a few games we should have won and that set us back and kept us out of the A-10 tournament. Of course, it didn't help that we don't play everyone in the conference, and yet only 6 of the 14 A-10 teams make the tournament. What's even worse is that Charlotte won the tournament and we were the only team in the conference to beat them during the regular season.

Here's where the story of Fall Soccer 2007 really gets interesting…and perhaps a little confusing so try to keep up! Because of our success against good teams, we actually had a decent chance of making the NCAA tournament. We didn't make the A-10 tournament and yet we had our best chance in three or four years at making NCAA's. I know what you're thinking…that I'm such a liar, but I assure you, I'm not.

With the knowledge that it may not be over, we kept on practicing and kept our fingers crossed. On the eve of the big NCAA tournament selection show, the team headed to local hot spot, Charlie O's, to watch. In the end, we didn't get picked. Being that close was a good feeling, but at the same time it left us feeling a bit empty, and eager to take full advantage of every game next season.

Word to the wise; watch out if you're playing us next Fall, because we certainly have some rage stored up. Keep an eye on Keepers' Korner for a Spring game schedule and of course for the upcoming Fall schedule! I promise to write sooner this time because I honestly want this relationship to work. As always, stay classy, Rhode Island.

There are no events scheduled for the next 60 days.
