Erin Sweeney enters her first season as an assistant coach with the University of Rhode Island softball program. She comes to Kingston after spending the 2006-07 season as a graduate assistant at Central Michigan University.

At CMU, Sweeney worked with the outfielders and helped the hitting coach as the Chippewas posted a second-place finish in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament. She was also in charge of fundraising, game management, and promotions.

Prior to her arrival at URI, Sweeney worked as a part-time assistant at Cornell in 2005 as the Big Red finished second in the Ivy League. She worked primarily with the outfielders and hitters. She began her coaching career at Saint Anselm in 2004 and worked with the outfield and hitters and also handled game management.

A 2004 graduate of Cornell, Sweeney helped the Big Red win two Ivy Leagues Championships (2001, 2004) and, consequently, two NCAA Tournament appearances. She was a four-year starter in the outfield and a three-time All-Ivy League selection as an outfielder.

Sweeney earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and is currently pursuing her master's degree in sports administration.
