Daugherty Leads Day One in Hepathlon at Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Shayna Daugherty sits in first place of the first day of competition in the heptathlon at the Hurricane Invitational, held at the University of Miami.

Daugherty has compiled a first-day score of 2857 points, topping the five-athlete field.

The sophomore captured the high jump competition (1.67m/5-05.75), while placing second in the 100m hurdles (15.07), third in the 200m (26.94) and fourth in the shot put (9.39m/30-09.97).

The final three events in the heptathlon - long jump, javelin, and 800m - will be contested tomorrow, as well as the beginning of the individual events.
