DAYTON, Ohio - The No. 16-ranked University of Dayton volleyball team defeated the University of Rhode Island 3-0 in Atlantic 10 action Saturday afternoon. The win gives Dayton (28-1, 12-1 Atlantic 10) the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament while the Rams (13-15, 5-8 Atlantic 10) lost the three-way tiebreaker for the final two spots in the tournament.

The Flyers captured game one 30-12, game two 30-18, and game three 30-16.

Sophomore Caitlyn Welsh (Narragansett, R.I.) led the Rams with six kills while junior Peggy Doino (Deer Park, N.Y.) had a team-best 12 digs. Freshman Lindsay Lytle (Sebastopol, Calif.) recorded five kills and four digs and senior Kaira Kachadurian (Fresno, Calif.) capped her stellar career with 17 assists.

Robynne Greene paced the Flyers with 10 kills while Lindsay Fletemier posted nine kills and four blocks.
