Rams Host Duquesne Saturday

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island volleyball team returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts the Dukes of Duquesne University in Atlantic 10 action at Keaney Gymnasium at 4 p.m. Prior to the start of the contest, the Rams will honors seniors Kaira Kachadurian (Fresno, Calif.) and Lauren Shea (Plymouth, Minn.). The Rams have won four of their last five games and sit at 12-12 on the season and 4-5 in the Atlantic 10. The Dukes, meanwhile, bring a 10-16 mark (2-9 Atlantic 10) to Kinston and have lost their last five matches. Last time out, the Rams rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Fordham University 3-2 on Saturday, Oct. 27. Freshman Kayla Newberg (Deer Park, Wash.) paced the Rams with 20 kills. Sophomore Caitlyn Welsh (Narragansett, R.I.) paces the Rams with a team-high 239 kills while Newberg is second with 218. Kachadurian boasts a team-high 772 assists, and freshman Lauren McIntosh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) lead URI with 68 blocks. Nicole Wright leads Duquesne in kills with 314, followed closely by Jenni Gross with 311. Kristin Garnett has tallied a team-high 937 assists while Amy Palko is tops on the Dukes with 415 digs. Gross lead the team with 82 blocks.
